How to choose
| What you are looking for | Litter | packaging |
|---|---|---|
| Clumping bentonite | Megi Economic or Super Absorbent | 5 l |
| Less litter outside the tray | Megi Lawenda, coarser grain | 5 l |
| Natural wood | Megi Eco Pellets | 5 l |
Bentonite litter clumps on contact with urine, so each day you only remove the used clumps. Megi Economic is 100% natural bentonite, and Lawenda also has a lavender scent. Megi Eco Pellets wood cat litter is made from coniferous wood, with no chemical additives, and is very absorbent and compostable. The packaging recommends a layer of about 5 cm in the litter tray.
Questions about cat litter
How often should I change the litter?
Remove clumps daily, top up what is used, and change all the litter at least once a week. This is what the British RSPCA and Cats Protection recommend.
Which litter is best?
The one your cat is willing to use. In RSPCA tests cats most often chose wood pellets, but some cats prefer fine, sandy litter, often the kind they knew as kittens.
Can bentonite litter be flushed down the toilet?
No. The Megi litter descriptions forbid disposing of it in the toilet or drains. Used bentonite can be used in the garden.
How do I change litter so my cat accepts it?
Gradually, over about a week. Sprinkle some of the old litter on top of the new, so the cat can smell something familiar.
